No. The extension only activates on search result pages (URLs containing /search). Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Drive, and all other Google products are completely unaffected.
It's an official URL parameter that Google uses internally to serve the "Web" tab — the classic list of links without AI Overviews, featured snippets, or knowledge panels. It's not a hack; it's a documented parameter that you can even type manually. NoAI Search just adds it automatically every time.

NoAI Search operates purely as a URL modifier. When Chrome detects a Google search navigation, the extension appends the udm=14 parameter before the page loads. This happens locally, in your browser, with no external network calls.

Your preferences (e.g., enabled/disabled) are stored using Chrome's storage.local API, which keeps data on your device only — never synced to our servers because we don't have servers.

1. Information We Collect

NoAI Search does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:

  • We do not collect search queries.
  • We do not collect browsing history or URLs you visit.
  • We do not collect your IP address.
  • We do not collect demographic information, device identifiers, or any other personal data.

2. Local Storage

The extension stores user preferences (such as the enabled/disabled toggle state) using Chrome's storage.local API. This data resides exclusively on your local device and is never transmitted to any server. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension.

3. Permissions Used & Why

  • storage — Save your local preferences only.
  • contextMenus — Add a right-click menu option for toggling the extension.
  • tabs — Detect and update the current tab's Google search URL.
  • webNavigation — Intercept navigation events to insert the URL parameter before page load.
  • host_permissions (google.com domains) — Required to modify URLs on Google search pages. No data is read from these pages.

4. Third-Party Services

NoAI Search does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.

5. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes materially, we will update the version in the Chrome Web Store and change the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
